Can I Book Online

Are the counselling sessions confidential?

It is our priority to ensure the personal information shared by clients is maintained with confidentiality. The information that is shared in a session may be entered into your records which are maintained by a fully encrypted and HIPPA compliant system. Your therapist is the only person who has access to your file. Information is kept confidential within the limits of the law and subject to the following exemptions:

  1. If you are involved in litigation, the court may subpoena your file;
  2. If you threaten to harm yourself or someone else, the authorities may be notified;
  3. If a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected, the authorities may be notified.

If information is requested by another party (for example, a physician) or you initiate sharing your information with another party, you will be asked to sign a Release of Information form, consenting to the sharing of your information.

Confidentiality also applies to children and youth. While parents often want to know “how they can help,” the therapists can support parents & caregivers without directly reporting what was shared in the session, provided the child or youth consents to that conversation.

Children ages 5-9.  The first appointment is with the parent(s) only in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of your child’s situation.  Please book a 15 min consult, submit your form or call the office to book an appointment.

Children Whose Parents are Separating or Divorced – Consent and Confidentiality.

We require that both parents provide consent to counselling their children to ensure that the therapeutic plan is in agreement which also supports the success of therapy.

Counselling children with separated or divorced parents

We provide therapeutic services to support children and teens during times of family transition. We do not provide assessments, recommendations, or any reports for court-related purposes. Additional consent forms are required by both parents who are involved with Family Law Courts.

Fees & Payments

Fees are $165 + GST for a 50 min session for individuals; $185+ GST / 50 min session for couples. Longer sessions can be accommodated by request and the fees adjusted accordingly.

Using Extended Health Benefits:

Not all extended health plans cover counselling expenses and not all health insurance companies have the same coverage plans. Please check with your provider about your specific coverage for:

  • how many sessions are covered per year
  • if coverage is per person or family member
  • the specific service provider credentials that are required for reimbursement, (for example, RCC, RSW, or psychologist).

Please note that we do not bill extended health programs directly. You will be provided with an official receipt at the point of payment which you can submit at your discretion.

What is the difference between RCC, RSW and Psychologist

A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is a registered member of the BC Association of Registered Clinical Counsellors and is licensed for private practice.

A Registered Social Worker (RSW) is a practitioner approved by the BC College of Social Workers and is licensed to practice.

A Registered Psychologist is a registered professional approved to provide counselling and assessments with diagnosis through private practice.
