Individuals have a strong desire to feel competent and confident in the important areas of their lives. They want to feel connected to others while also experiencing a sense of belonging, purpose, and meaning in their world.
I approach my work as a counsellor with the belief that while we share many common human experiences, each person is also unique. My goal is to meet clients where they are in their lives, without judgement or expectation, and create a space where they feel respected, understood, and supported.
Often, people find themselves repeating patterns of behaviour in response to cumulative stressors within relationships, family life, or the workplace. Over time, these patterns can contribute to feelings of frustration, disconnection, or emotional exhaustion.
Through compassionate exploration, I work with adults and couples to help them gain clarity about the challenges they are facing and identify possibilities for positive change, while also recognizing the strength and resilience they already possess.
My hope is that clients leave our work together feeling more grounded, more self-aware, and more confident in their ability to move forward in ways that support their wellbeing and relationships.
I bring an innate curiosity about people into my counselling work and approach clients with warmth, compassion, and a non-judgemental perspective. I believe that a safe, genuine, and collaborative therapeutic relationship is central to healing and growth.
Counselling is never a “one size fits all” process. Each client brings unique experiences, goals, and strengths, and I tailor my approach accordingly. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including trauma-focused modalities, depending on the needs of the client and their goals for counselling.
When working with individuals, our focus is on gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges you are experiencing and exploring emotional triggers and patterns that may be contributing to distress. Together we identify tools and strategies that can strengthen self-awareness, emotional regulation, and self-efficacy.
I also believe humour has an important place in therapy. While counselling can involve exploring difficult experiences, moments of lightness can make the process feel more human and accessible.
In my work with couples, I take an inquisitive and relationship-centred approach grounded in respect and understanding. I often describe the couple relationship as consisting of three entities: two individuals and the relationship itself. Our work focuses on identifying patterns that may be affecting the relationship and exploring ways to strengthen communication, connection, and mutual understanding.
I bring over 16 years of experience supporting individuals and couples navigating a wide range of emotional, relational, and life transition challenges. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Clinical Traumatologist (TICT-CT) with additional training in EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, including trauma-focused CBT.
Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of settings including community agencies, post-secondary environments, private practice, and national mental health and wellness programs. I have also served as a clinical supervisor and as a mental health specialist within the occupational disability field.
Growing up in a military family, combined with my previous work supporting individuals experiencing physical and psychological injuries, has given me particular insight into the challenges faced by public safety personnel and their families. Additional training in compassion fatigue, burnout, and occupational awareness for emergency workers has further informed this work.
It is a privilege to walk alongside clients as they strengthen their mental wellbeing and move toward greater balance and resilience in their lives.
I have lived in British Columbia for the past 17 years, though I have also lived in many places across Canada from coast to coast. I enjoy spending time outdoors and feel most grounded in nature, especially near or on the water.
I also enjoy travelling to explore new places, music, and art. Above all, however, the greatest joy in my life comes from spending time with family and friends and maintaining those meaningful connections.
