Raelene is a kind and compassionate client-centered counsellor who believes that healing happens in positive relationships. She seeks to build a trusted relationship with her clients and integrates modalities best suited to meet their needs. She believes that you are the expert of your life, but at times we all need some support, some guidance, or some clarity in our lives. Raelene also believes when we learn to connect, support, and listen to both our mind and our body, we have tremendous power to heal.
From a holistic, trauma informed, and attachment centered approach, she has had the honour of helping clients create new insights into their challenges or situations, understand and connect to their authentic self, heal old wounds, and develop healthy coping skills as they reach their goals and live a life aligned with their values. As a mother and a trained perinatal mental health counsellor, she also knows how difficult the perinatal period can be; from preconception, through pregnancy, birth, and parenting, the challenges are complex and real. She supports individuals through this profound time, helping them better cope, increasing their capacity to form a strong attachment with their own children, and supporting their personal well being.
Raelene believes there is always hope and a great capacity for growth in each of us.
Raelene works with adults, adolescents, and children with anxiety, stress, trauma, intense emotions, or struggling with life transitions. She supports women and partners affected by pregnancy, loss, birth trauma, and parenting and with many years of experience working with school aged children, she has a special fondness for working with pre-teens. Raelene is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC. She has a Masters degree in Educational Counselling and a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care. Raelene has over two decades of experience counselling children and families with mental health needs across educational and community settings.
Raelene sees herself as a life-long learner and is always training and building her capacity to help her clients. Raelene encourages her clients to take an active role in therapy, often trying out and practicing new skills, engaging in mindfulness-based and mind-body exercises, and/or expressive modalities that integrate neuroscience to facilitate healing. As a counsellor, she feels truly blessed to have been witness to incredible resilience over the years, which drives her passion for helping others.
When she is not at work, Raelene is busy with life as a mom and wife! She is usually chauffeuring her children to their activities, cheering loudly on the sidelines, staying up til midnight attempting to book their next camping adventure, learning to paint, relaxing by the fire, or connecting with friends. She feels most at peace by the ocean or in the forest and can always be spotted doing yoga in either place!
