Meet Rhonda

Adolescence can be a confusing time filled with change, pressure, and self-doubt. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are struggling to manage anxiety, communicate effectively, or feel confident in who they are. My goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where you can express yourself freely, explore what is happening beneath the surface, and learn tools that bring greater balance and self-understanding.

Many of my clients come to therapy wanting to make sense of their emotions, reduce stress, or feel more connected to themselves and others. Together, we explore what contributes to overwhelm and develop strategies for building resilience, confidence, and self-trust. I bring warmth, humor, and curiosity to the counselling process, meeting you where you are and supporting you as you move toward the changes you want to see.

My Approach / How I Work

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in practical strategies that promote growth and emotional regulation. I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused techniques within a client-centered and acceptance-based framework. This means we work together to identify what keeps you stuck, understand the emotions beneath your reactions, and practice tools that help you respond with confidence and calm.

For adolescents, this often involves developing skills to manage anxiety, set healthy boundaries, and strengthen self-awareness. For adults and couples, our work may focus on communication, relationship repair, and understanding emotional patterns that affect connection and trust. I also bring a neurodiversity-affirming lens to my work, supporting clients in recognizing and embracing their unique ways of thinking and being.

I believe therapy is both a place of learning and a space for self-discovery where you can find clarity, confidence, and compassion for yourself and those around you.

Background and Training

I have worked in the field of education and mental health for more than 25 years, supporting adolescents, adults, and families through emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. My experience includes working as a high school counsellor, educator, and therapist in both community and private practice settings. I have worked in special education, as well and hold two masters degrees one in Supporting Diverse Learners(Special Education) and the other in Counselling. These roles have given me a deep appreciation for the courage it takes to seek support and the resilience that can emerge when people feel seen and understood.

My training in CBT, DBT, and Emotion-Focused Therapy allows me to help clients build insight and develop practical tools for daily life. I am especially passionate about helping teens and families strengthen communication and self-acceptance. I believe that healing begins with connection and that therapy can help you discover a sense of confidence, calm, and clarity that extends far beyond the counselling room.

Outside the Office

Outside of counselling, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, reading, and being near the ocean. I love exploring new places, gardening, and finding moments of quiet connection with nature. These experiences help me stay grounded and reflect the same balance, curiosity, and self-care I encourage in my clients.

A Few Things About Me

What inspires me most: seeing clients discover their own resilience and realize they are capable of so much more than they believed.

Whether you are a teen trying to make sense of life’s challenges, a parent seeking better communication, or a couple wanting to reconnect, therapy can help you find clarity and confidence. If you are ready to begin your journey toward calm and connection, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
