About / Meet Katie

If you’re feeling lost, disconnected, or longing to live more authentically, I am here to sit with you in all of it while also offering a steady place to explore what may be happening beneath the surface. I am deeply curious about the ways early experiences, relationships, and beliefs shape how we move through the world, and together we gently explore the patterns that once helped you feel safe but may no longer fit.

Rooted in encouragement and connection, my approach invites thoughtful self-reflection, compassion for the parts of you that adapted to survive, and the courage to choose new ways of being. I believe meaningful change begins with understanding ourselves more clearly and developing the confidence to move toward what truly matters.

I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families who want to better understand themselves and their relationships. At the heart of my work is a desire to help people feel more at home in their own skin, grounded in their values, connected to their strengths, and steady enough to meet life’s inevitable challenges with resilience and self-trust.

My Approach / How I Work

My approach to counselling is intuitive, collaborative, and grounded in a systems perspective. I look at the whole picture: culture, family dynamics, early experiences, and the internal beliefs and rules that shape how you move through the world. Together we explore emotional patterns and triggers with curiosity, helping you understand how they developed and whether they still serve you.

When emotions feel overwhelming, we slow things down and build awareness of what is happening beneath the surface. I support clients in strengthening emotional regulation, developing clearer and values-based communication, and building resilience rooted in self-understanding and self-trust.

With couples, I focus on the patterns that keep partners stuck: cycles of conflict, miscommunication, and disconnection that often hide deeper needs for understanding, safety, and closeness. Together we work toward greater empathy, accountability, and emotional safety in the relationship.

With children and teens, connection and curiosity come first. I meet young people where they are, using developmentally appropriate conversation, creativity, humour, and collaborative problem-solving to help them better understand their emotions and build confidence in navigating challenges.

While the tools I use may vary, the heart of my work remains the same: uncovering strengths, loosening stuck patterns, and supporting meaningful change in the spirit of encouragement, growth, and authenticity.

Background & Training

My training as a counsellor was grounded in intensive clinical practice, thoughtful supervision, and a strong focus on developing presence, curiosity, and relational skill. During my master’s program, I worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances while receiving close mentorship from experienced supervisors whose guidance continues to shape my work.

This graduate training included extensive supervised clinical work supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating emotional, relational, and life challenges. Through this experience, I developed a strong appreciation for the resilience people carry even during difficult seasons of life.

It was also during this time that my counselling philosophy took shape: a deep belief in people’s capacity for growth and change. I see individuals as resilient, resourceful, and capable of moving toward the lives they want to live.

As a counsellor, my role is to walk alongside clients as we uncover strengths, make sense of patterns shaping their lives, and support changes that feel meaningful, authentic, and aligned with their values.

Outside the Office

When I am not in the office, I find that staying balanced is essential for my own well-being. You will often find me letting my creative spirit thrive through arts and crafts projects or heading to the gym to recharge. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, whether that means hiking, paddle boarding, or enjoying a quiet afternoon at the beach.

I grew up with a love for board games and card games, which remains one of my favourite ways to connect with friends and family. I am also an avid reader of historical fiction, and I am always happy to share a good book recommendation.
