Raelene Hurry M.Ed., RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor

Meet Raelene

I work with women, adults and young people who are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or a little lost during life’s transitions. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who have frequently put others’ needs before their own, often at the cost of their own well-being. My intention is to offer a gentle, supportive space where you can slow down, tune into yourself, and reconnect with what truly matters to you.

Using a holistic approach that integrates the mind and body, I help clients explore the roots of anxiety and dysregulation, while developing tools to find calm and balance. Together, we work toward greater self-understanding, compassion, and confidence so that you can feel more grounded and present in your life. Whether you are navigating stress, trauma, life changes, or relationship challenges, our work focuses on helping you feel empowered, whole, and authentically yourself.

My Approach / How I Work

My counselling style is warm, collaborative, and holistic. I believe that healing happens in safe, supportive relationships where you can feel seen, understood, and accepted. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Individual Therapy, and Neuroscience and Somatic-informed practices with mindfulness and self-compassion-based strategies.

My work is guided by the belief that the body and mind are deeply connected, and that true change comes from nurturing both. In our sessions, we focus on developing awareness, emotional regulation, and healthy boundaries, while gently addressing patterns that no longer serve you. I support clients through anxiety, stress, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, and trauma, and I also have experience supporting individuals in the perinatal period. Whatever brings you to therapy, my role is to meet you with curiosity, care, and belief in your capacity to heal.

Background and Training

I have worked in the mental health and counselling field for more than two decades, supporting children, teens, and adults across school, community, and clinical settings. My background includes training in trauma-informed and attachment-centred practices, and I have completed specialized certifications in perinatal mental health, emotion-focused trauma therapy, shame treatment, and polyvagal-informed therapy.

Over the years, I have been privileged to help clients discover new insights, heal old wounds, and build resilience through a deeper connection to their body, mind, and spirit. I believe that every person holds an innate wisdom for healing and that therapy can be a path toward self-compassion and balance. My clients often describe me as kind, curious and compassionate, which are qualities I bring to every session as we work together to create meaningful change.

Outside the Office

Outside of counselling, I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, painting, and connecting with friends. I find peace and renewal in nature, and I love yoga as a way to quiet the mind and reconnect with the body. These practices keep me grounded and remind me of the same balance and presence I help my clients cultivate in their own lives.

A Few Things About Me

What inspires me most: witnessing people learn about themselves, rediscover their strengths, release limiting beliefs, and step into calm, confidence, and self-trust.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel vulnerable, but it’s also an act of courage and self-compassion. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing, balance, and authentic living, I would be honoured to walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity, and care.
